CCIE Certification Cost in India 2026 — Qualifying Exam, Lab and the Real Total

The CCIE certification cost in India is dominated by one number: the US$1,600 lab exam. Everything else — the qualifying exam, the training, the practice racks — is secondary to the fact that a single failed lab attempt costs more than an entire CCNP. This is an honest breakdown from a school whose founder holds Dual CCIE #22239 and has sat those labs.

One number dominates everything else

CCIE has two Cisco charges. A qualifying exam at US$400, which is the same core exam used by the matching CCNP track. And the lab — a single 8-hour practical examination — at US$1,600. Together, roughly ₹1,77,000 at 2026 exchange rates, before you have paid anyone to teach you.

That lab fee changes how the whole decision works. For CCNA, the exam is a modest fraction of what you spend and the training dominates. For CCIE it is inverted: the lab exam alone typically costs more than the training programme you take to prepare for it. And a failed attempt does not cost you a discount or a partial rebate — it costs another US$1,600 in full.

This is why CCIE budgeting should start from a different question than CCNA budgeting. Not "what is the cheapest course" but "how do I maximise the probability of passing on the attempt I have paid for". Every rupee spent on lab practice that raises your odds is cheaper than a second lab booking.

Cisco's fees, line by line

Cisco prices in US dollars, so the rupee figures below move with the exchange rate and with taxes on the day you book. The dollar amounts are the stable ones. Fees are identical across every CCIE track — Enterprise Infrastructure, Enterprise Wireless, Security, Data Center, Service Provider and Collaboration all cost the same to sit.

Item USD INR (approx) Notes
Qualifying exam (CCNP core) USD 400 ≈ ₹35,500 Required before you can book the lab. Also counts toward CCNP
Lab / practical exam USD 1,600 ≈ ₹1,41,500 Single 8-hour examination. Same fee at all expert-level tracks
Total Cisco-side (first attempt) USD 2,000 ≈ ₹1,77,000 Excludes training, lab practice, travel and accommodation
Lab retake USD 1,600 ≈ ₹1,41,500 Full price again. The single biggest budget risk in the ladder
Recertification (every 3 years) USD 0 with CE credits Continuing Education route No need to repeat the lab. Emeritus option also exists

The Bangalore lab — and why it saves Indian candidates a lakh

Cisco runs a permanent CCIE lab facility in Bangalore, at Cisco Systems (India) Pvt Ltd in Cessna Business Park, Kadubeesanahalli. It is one of a small handful of permanent expert-level lab locations worldwide, sitting alongside sites such as RTP in North Carolina, Brussels, Dubai, Beijing and Tokyo.

This matters more to the budget than it first appears. Candidates in countries without a lab location have to add international flights, a visa, several nights of accommodation and the risk of doing all of that twice if the first attempt does not go well. For an Indian candidate, a domestic trip to Bangalore replaces what would otherwise be an easy ₹1,00,000 or more of travel per attempt.

There is a practical planning point too. Lab slots at any given location are finite and popular tracks book out well in advance, so the date you can actually sit is often months after the date you feel ready. Candidates routinely underestimate this and let their preparation go stale waiting. Book the slot as a target to work toward, rather than as a reward for finishing preparation.

Section 4

Training, lab time, and where the rest of the money goes

Beyond Cisco's fees, CCIE spending falls into two buckets: instruction and rack time. Instruction is the smaller of the two for most candidates, because at this level you are not learning concepts from scratch — you are being shown how expert-level troubleshooting is actually approached, and having your blind spots found by someone who has passed.

Rack time is where the real hours and the real money go. The lab is an 8-hour timed exercise, and speed under pressure is a skill you can only build by repetition on realistic topologies. Whether you rent that access, get it bundled into a programme, or build your own environment, budget for it deliberately rather than treating it as an afterthought.

Cisco does not publish official CCIE lab pass rates, so treat any precise percentage you see quoted as an estimate rather than a fact. What is not disputed is that first-attempt success is uncommon and that many successful CCIEs sat the lab more than once. A budget built on the assumption of one clean attempt is a budget built on the best case.

Component Typical India cost Notes
Cisco fees (exam + lab) ≈ ₹1,77,000 Fixed in USD, paid to Cisco
Training programme ₹85,000–₹1,20,000 Varies by track; Security and Data Center cost more
Additional rack / lab time ₹15,000–₹50,000 Often bundled, but check how many hours are actually included
Travel and accommodation ₹5,000–₹25,000 Domestic only, thanks to the Bangalore lab
Section 5

Who should actually spend this money

CCIE is a specialist credential, and its value in the Indian market comes precisely from its scarcity. It moves senior engineers into architecture, pre-sales, consulting and expert-tier support — roles where the certification functions as a credible shorthand for depth that would otherwise take a long interview to establish.

It is not a route out of an entry-level job, and the most expensive mistake in this whole area is attempting it too early. Someone with eighteen months of experience who books a lab is not buying a career accelerator; they are buying a ₹1,41,500 lesson in how much they have not yet seen. The lab tests judgement under time pressure, and judgement is the one thing that cannot be revised into existence.

The honest test is simple. If you can look at an unfamiliar production network and form a working theory about why it is behaving oddly — before you start typing — you are approaching CCIE readiness. If you would need to look everything up, the money is better spent on CCNP and on two more years of operating real infrastructure. That is not a discouragement; it is the sequence that works.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What is the total CCIE certification cost in India in 2026? +
Cisco's side alone is approximately ₹1,77,000: a qualifying exam at US$400 (about ₹35,500) plus the lab exam at US$1,600 (about ₹1,41,500). Add training, lab practice time and travel and the realistic all-in total is ₹2.6 to ₹3.5 lakh. Networkers Home's CCIE Enterprise programme is ₹85,000 including 18% GST over 6 months; CCIE Security is ₹95,000.
How much is the CCIE lab exam fee? +
The CCIE lab and practical exam fee is US$1,600 for any expert-level track, at Cisco testing facilities or at mobile lab locations. At 2026 exchange rates that is roughly ₹1,41,500 before taxes. This is a single 8-hour examination and is by far the largest single line item in the whole Cisco certification ladder.
Can you take the CCIE lab exam in India? +
Yes. Cisco operates a CCIE lab facility in Bangalore, at Cisco Systems (India) Pvt Ltd, Cessna Business Park, Kadubeesanahalli. It is one of a small number of permanent lab locations worldwide, alongside sites such as RTP, Brussels, Dubai, Beijing and Tokyo. For Indian candidates this removes international travel from the budget, which can otherwise add more than a lakh to the total cost.
Do you need CCNP before attempting CCIE? +
Not formally. Cisco requires you to pass a qualifying exam before booking the lab, and that qualifying exam is the same core exam used by the matching CCNP track. So you do not need the full CCNP certification, but you do need to pass its core exam. Most candidates complete CCNP anyway, because the concentration exam is a small addition once the core is done.
What happens to the cost if you fail the CCIE lab? +
A lab retake is another US$1,600, roughly ₹1,41,500. This is why CCIE budgeting is fundamentally different from CCNA or CCNP budgeting: one failed attempt costs more than an entire CCNP certification. Candidates who plan for a single attempt and no more are the ones most likely to be caught out financially.
How long is CCIE valid and how do you recertify? +
CCIE is valid for three years. You can recertify through Continuing Education credits or by passing qualifying exams, rather than repeating the lab. Cisco also operates an Emeritus programme for long-standing CCIEs who no longer practise actively. Recertification via CE credits is the route most working CCIEs take.
Which CCIE track costs the most? +
Cisco charges the same US$400 qualifying exam and US$1,600 lab fee across every CCIE track, so the Cisco side is identical. Training costs differ: CCIE Security and CCIE Data Center generally cost more to train for in India than CCIE Enterprise Infrastructure, because they need more specialised lab hardware and far fewer instructors can teach them.
How long does CCIE take to prepare for? +
Realistically 12 to 24 months of sustained preparation alongside a job, on top of existing professional experience. The lab tests configuration and troubleshooting under an 8-hour time limit, which cannot be prepared for by reading. Candidates who already work daily on the relevant technology move faster, but nobody credible completes CCIE quickly from a standing start.
What is the CCIE lab pass rate? +
Cisco does not publish official pass rates for the CCIE lab, so any specific percentage you see quoted is an estimate rather than a verified figure. What is not in dispute is that first-attempt success is uncommon and that most successful CCIEs sat the lab more than once. Budget on that basis rather than on a number from a marketing page.
Is CCIE worth the cost in India? +
CCIE is worth it for engineers who already operate at senior level and want to move into architecture, pre-sales, consulting or expert-tier support. It is a specialist credential with a genuine scarcity value in the Indian market. It is not a route out of an entry-level role, and pursuing it before CCNP-level operational experience is the most common and most expensive mistake.
What does Networkers Home charge for CCIE training? +
CCIE Enterprise Infrastructure is ₹85,000 including 18% GST over 6 months, with EMI at ₹14,170 per month over 6 months. CCIE Security is ₹95,000 including GST over the same duration, with EMI at ₹15,830. Both are taught in Bangalore and live online, and neither fee includes Cisco's own exam and lab fees, which you pay directly to Cisco.
Can you self-study for CCIE without an institute? +
It is possible and some people do it, but the constraint is lab access rather than material. The CCIE lab requires sustained practice on realistic topologies, and building an equivalent environment yourself is expensive and time-consuming. Most self-study CCIE candidates end up renting structured lab time anyway, which narrows the cost gap against a programme considerably.
